Optional 3-duck bag limit proposal
Current waterfowl hunting regulations stipulate bag limits on a species and sex basis. This requires waterfowl hunters to be able to precisely identify ducks. Some hunters, including new hunters with limited experience, report this is a challenge and a potential barrier to participation.
Due to the potential barrier that waterfowl identification poses, Minnesota is considering creating an optional, alternative 3-duck bag limit. This would allow hunters to choose between:
- A new, alternative 3-duck per day bag limit of any species and sex of duck, and
- The current, standard 6-duck bag limit with bag limits that vary by species and sex.
