WMA/AMA Planning for the Prairie Parkland
Thank you for your interest in the development of landscape-level plans for Minnesota's Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and Aquatic Management Areas (AMAs). These plans will guide habitat management, public use, conservation priorities, and long-term stewardship across Minnesota’s diverse landscapes.
The following questionnaire is specific to WMAs and AMAs that are located within the Prairie Parkland ecological province. Feedback gathered through this questionnaire will be used to help inform the content of the WMA/AMA plan for the Prairie Parkland.

The Prairie Parkland ecological province covers western and southwestern Minnesota, spanning from the Red River Valley near Moorhead down through the prairie landscapes of Alexandria, Willmar, Marshall, and Worthington. The landscape is shaped by expansive prairie grasslands, scattered wetlands, gently rolling moraine, and river corridors that cut through rich agricultural plains, making it an important area for long-term habitat conservation and the associated hunting, trapping, angling, birdwatching, and related outdoor activities.
The Prairie Parkland Province contains 821 WMAs and 98 AMAs, covering a total of 252,564 acres and 3,295 acres, respectively. Around 13% of this total acreage is contained within a single major unit: Lac qui Parle WMA.
